DAC Forum Q&A Overview- 10/15/2025

Part One Questions 1-5
1. With increasing demands and tighter budget constraints, what would you prioritize and what would be the most important to preserve in making funding decisions for LPS?

2. What, in your view, is the greatest single issue facing LPS and how would you address it?

3. How will you ensure that all students and staff in our schools feel safe, respected, and supported, both in the classroom and in extracurricular spaces?

4. What are your thoughts or plans on how to keep schools open while we continue to see a decline in enrollment?

5. How will you continue to prioritize school safety and security in the face of potential budget cuts?

Part Two Questions 6-12

**6. With the increased stress, demands and expectations of teaching, what do you think contributes most to teachers staying in the profession and how should LPS work to retain teachers?

7. How would you measure success for our district that goes deeper than standardized data?

8. What’s one “big idea” from another district, state, or even country that you’d love to pilot here?

9. How will you make sure budget cuts don’t widen gaps for our most vulnerable students?

10. What roles do you see for artificial intelligence in the classroom?  Should the board encourage or discourage its use?

11. Can you provide an example on how you would ensure that families from marginalized communities, including families of color, immigrant families, and low-income families, have meaningful opportunities to provide input, and that their voices are valued in decision making?

12. How do you plan on measuring your effectiveness as a school board member? What practices will you endorse to assess yourself?

Part 3 Questions 13-16

13. The LPS board has remained successfully apolitical for years. Under what circumstances do you feel your political leanings might impact your decisions on the school board?

14. How will you make sure that parent, student, and teacher voices from all communities are both heard and responded to? What role do you feel parents have in district wide decisions?

15. What changes will you actively implement if you are elected? Please name a specific change and the action steps you will take to make that change happen.

16. Please name the top 3 values that will guide your decision making in this leadership position and explain how leading with these values will benefit LPS students.

** QUESTION SIX was cut off from the video, and I wanted to ensure it was answered publicly. As someone who has worked in the classroom, I know first hand that compensation is not the only thing that matters to our teachers and staff. I will always be in favor of raising our salaries when presented the opportunity however I am invested in ensuring that our teachers and staff feel valued, seen, supported, and heard. The survey result that the LEA presented to us that essentially asked staff to rate their admin and asked admin to rate themselves was eye-opening. The results were 40% staff rating and 100% admin rating. That tells me our staff is not being listened to. In my campaign I have put a huge underscore on transparency and accountability. This is a perfect example of how a board member with these values would serve us as a whole. By creating an environment where staff can give this kind of feedback and it be welcomed, we are able to retain quality staff who enjoy being a part of this district.
